Who We Are

Rebuilding Together Portland

Rebuilding Together is a nation-wide nonprofit organization that provides critical home repairs, modifications, and improvements for low-income homeowners. We have a focus on assisting the elderly, people with disabilities, families with children, and veterans at no cost to those served. Our work focuses on safety and livability repairs including carpentry, minor plumbing, flooring, and home safety modifications such as raised toilets, handrails, walk-in showers or wheelchair ramps. Our goal is to help low-income Portland homeowners remain in a safe, secure, and independent environment for years to come. Currently, we do not have an emergency repair program.

To be eligible for consideration for our Rebuilding Day or the Safe & Healthy Home Repair Program, the applicant must:

  • Be the owner and occupant of the property.

  • Be low-income, below 80% of median family income.

  • Be unable to either financially and/or physically complete repairs themselves.

  • Be current with mortgage or mortgage paid off and not at risk of default.

  • Live in the City of Portland.

  • Plan to age in the home.

  • Not be in a recently purchased home requiring repairs.

We repaired 75 homes with more than 500 volunteers, returning more than $2,500,000 in social investment in 23-24 through our Rebuilding Day and Safe and Health Home Repair Programs. These efforts are made possible with our Board of Directors, financial and material contributions, sponsors, partners and volunteers.
